Welcome to Arachneas Attic

Welcome to day one of the new blog - Arachneas Attic.

I love pictures, illustrations and graphics and I love finding special books chalk full of vintage images to share with everyone.

What I'm going to do is post up to twice a day with a graphic each time - in some cases, I'll post the original scan with no real changes to it, along with the same image, but played with a little in Photoshop (my old old old version - lol) to make it easier to use the graphics for your artistic needs. Scrapbooking, crafting, mail art - the options are endless.

Every image is pre-1923, meaning they are ALL public domain and are free for you to use in your every day life any way you choose. Use the images however you wish, feel free to sell products featuring the images, or using them for your personal use.

My only request is that you do not create ephemera sheets out of them and sell them as your own. These images are free for everyone!

I would love to see how you've decided to use the image, but that is by no means necessary - I'm just curious :)

You don't have to link back to me, you don't have to name me - the images are all free :)

So, to begin:

These images are from an old science book I found - I wasn't able to fix the scarring on the left hand side of the image, but you may be able to. First image is obviously pre-photoshop, and second image I've just removed the aged paper colour and text to make it easier to use.

^The above image is a page break I found sporadically in an old book - looks like a gargoyle or ram with a floral theme. Here is the black and white version:
